The Capulina Victorian handcrafted stained glass pendant light lampshade is slightly heavier than you might expect because it is made of real stained glass, not a plastic shade. However, when you knock on it, it sounds like plastic due to the special manufacturing process.

Each glass piece is cut by hand, and the edges are polished before being wrapped with adhesive copper tape (copper foil). The glass pieces are then assembled in a mould according to the pattern, and soldered together at a very high temperature.

If you are familiar with Tiffany stained glass shades and panels, you will know that there is air between each piece of glass, which gives them their distinctive sound when knocked. This is a characteristic feature of Tiffany stained glasses.

The stained glass is much heavier than plastic and cannot be burned or easily cut with a normal knife. This makes it easy to verify the authenticity of the material.
